WELCOME to WINCHESTER RIDING CLUB!

~

WINCHESTER RIDING CLUB organises competitions, training and events for people who own their own horses in the Winchester area.

BRITISH HORSE SOCIETY RAGWORT SURVEY at www.bhs.org.uk/ragwort

Every year, we’re inundated with ragwort concerns from equestrians, many of whom invest large amounts of time and money in trying to control the weed.

Therefore, the British Horse Society is delighted to be working with Defra to launch an exciting new research project to discover the real facts about ragwort and horses. The new survey will gather data from across England on the perceptions and reality of the impact of ragwort. The results will inform measures to ensure the appropriate use of the Weeds Act 1959, the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and other relevant legislation.

We need your help now.
By completing the10 minute survey at www.bhs.org.uk/ragwort, you’ll help us establish a true picture of the situation. Please take the time to complete the survey and once you have done this, please forward to your friends and family and ask them to take part.

The survey closes on 15 August, so don’t miss this chance.
Have your say and help to make the biggest difference we can.

WINCHESTER RIDING CLUB aims to cater for all horse owners who ride mainly for pleasure. We are not affiliated to the British Horse Society and do not become involved in team competitions or training for BHS or other Riding Club tests.

WINCHESTER RIDING CLUB has about 150 members living and keeping their horses in the area 18 - 20 miles around Winchester.  Members range from children to older adults and the club caters for all abilities, from very novice riders to professionals, with equal enthusiasm.

WRC was founded in 1988 as a campaigning group to maintain and promote the network of bridleways in the Winchester area and has grown to become one of the most successful Riding Clubs in Hampshire.

During the year WRC holds events covering a wide range of equine activities.  We have an enthusiastic committee who work hard to ensure that each event is well organised and the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly.  We aim to offer something for everyone, so our programme is both comprehensive and diverse and includes:

  • Competitions open to all
  • Members Only competitions and events
  • Occasional flatwork, jumping and cross country training
  • Non-competitive events, eg, fun rides
  • Talks, trips and visits
  • Social events

If you are a member, you'll also receive our excellent bi-monthly magazine which gives details of future events and training, a full update of all club activities, reports on recent events, a What's On of local horsy events, advertisements, national and local information of interest to horse lovers and special offers for members.
