Steffi Dampney, (MBPsS), is based in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.  She is a trainee sport and exercise psychologist who works with a variety of sports, both team and individual.  So far she has enjoyed providing support for sports such as high jump, tetrathlon, rugby, football, polo, golf, shooting, eventing, dressage and show jumping.

Nowadays in sport many, if not most, of the physical aspects are covered, be it nutrition, strength and conditioning, fitness, physio, etc.  However there still seems to be a missing link to achieving optimal performance. This is where sport psychology comes in.  When you spend so much time and effort training for the physical skills, why not also apply yourself to the mental skills?  It is these mental skills that Steffi aims to help athletes discover and, most importantly, put into practice both in training and competition.

After graduating with a psychology degree from Newcastle University in 2014 Steffi took a year out before embarking on a Masters in Sport and Exercise Psychology at the University of the West of England.  It was during this time that she reconnected with Charlie Unwin of Performance Legacy who had mentored her throughout her degree.  This gave her a fascinating insight into performance psychology and really enhanced her view that optimal performance, in any walk of life be it sport or business, is the ultimate goal.

Steffi enjoys competing herself, and understands all too well the pressures put on athletes both by themselves and other people.  Using her training along with her competitive experience, Steffi works with athletes to discover the best techniques to enable them to fulfil their potential.

During the summer Steffi can be seen out eventing her horse, Clive, at novice level and in the cooler months gets her thrills by team chasing her Mum’s horse, Charlie, for the Kings Bounty Belles.
